Fostering
Fostering dogs offers a rewarding experience that benefits both the animals and the caregivers. For dogs, fostering provides a temporary, loving environment where they can feel safe, nurtured, and prepared for their forever homes. Many rescue dogs come from shelters or difficult circumstances, and fostering allows them to receive individualized attention, socialization, and sometimes medical care that shelters may struggle to provide due to limited resources.
This environment reduces stress and anxiety, helping dogs develop better behavior and trust, which improves their chances of being adopted. Additionally, fostering offers an alternative to overcrowded shelters, freeing up space for more animals in need and potentially saving lives that might otherwise be at risk. It creates a vital bridge between abandonment and adoption, ensuring dogs are rehabilitated emotionally and physically before transitioning to permanent homes.
The Rosenthal Family Foundation partners with dog foster organizations throughout the Chicagoland area to help rescue dogs from Chicago Animal Care and Control , providing them with a second chance at life. Recognizing the challenges faced by overcrowded shelters, the foundation collaborates with local rescue groups to transfer dogs from Chicago Animal Care and Control into safe, temporary foster homes where they can receive proper care, medical attention, and socialization.
Through generous funding and resource support, the Rosenthal Family Foundation helps cover veterinary expenses, training programs, and essential supplies needed to prepare these dogs for adoption. Their efforts not only alleviate the burden on Chicago Animal Care and Control but also ensure that rescued dogs have a nurturing environment to heal and thrive while waiting for permanent families. Additionally, the foundation raises awareness about fostering and adoption, working closely with rescue organizations to promote adoption events and community engagement programs.
By providing financial assistance and building networks of support, the Rosenthal Family Foundation plays a critical role in reducing euthanasia rates and improving the welfare of homeless dogs. Their commitment to animal rescue demonstrates how strategic partnerships and community-driven efforts can create lasting impacts, saving lives and strengthening the bond between people and pets.

Education Outreach
The Rosenthal Family Foundation works with students to deepen their understanding of rescue and pet fostering through a variety of hands-on experiences and educational initiatives. By facilitating visits to local animal shelters, the foundation allows young participants to see firsthand the challenges faced by animals in need of rescue. These visits provide valuable exposure to the realities of shelter life, helping the youth connect emotionally with the animals and understand the importance of fostering in giving these pets a second chance. Through these interactions, they gain insight into the responsibilities and rewards of caring for an animal while learning about the broader impact of adoption and rescue on local communities.
In addition to shelter visits, the foundation organizes hands-on service projects where youth groups actively contribute to the welfare of the animals. These projects can range from cleaning and maintaining the shelter spaces, to socializing pets and to assisting with food drives or creating awareness campaigns about pet adoption and fostering. By engaging in these activities, participants not only acquire a sense of responsibility but also develop empathy and teamwork skills. The Rosenthal Family Foundation’s efforts go beyond mere volunteerism; they are shaping a generation of young people who are passionate about animal welfare and committed to creating a more compassionate world for pets in need.
